Farmers again protested by throwing onions outside Saurashtra’s largest gondal yard today. Due to the central government’s ban on the export of onion, the prices have taken a big hit. At present, onion prices have fallen to rock bottom. After the decision of the government, the farmers first made various representations in a peaceful atmosphere, but still the issue was not resolved, now the protest has become aggressive and now the fire of this protest is spreading in Saurashtra.

Farmers were agitated after the public auction was stopped at Savarkundla APMC in Amreli. Ghanshyambhai Dhaduk, the proprietor of Dharmakula Cotton, was issued a notice by the marketing yard inspector on the charge of misbehaving with the farmer. The Savarkundla Marketing Yard Trader Mahamandal did not understand the pain of the farmers and decided to stop the auction of the yard by giving a notice to the trader. Due to this decision of the Marketing Yard Traders Mahamandal, the farmers who exposed their yards outside the whole night in the bitter cold were furious.

Yesterday, farmers in Rajkot and Bhavnagar districts staged a protest on the National Highway. Today again the farmers protested outside the Gondal yard and intensified the agitation. During the protest in the Gondal yard, as many as 10 farmers shouted suicide, the police rushed to the spot and immediately detained the farmers who shouted. So the income of onion in the market  yard decreased due to farmers’ protest. Gondal Traders Association President Yogesh Kyada demanded immediate resolution of the issue.
